Common questions

Where does TimeZoneBar appear after I open it?

TimeZoneBar lives in the menu bar at the top of your Mac screen, rather than in the Dock. Click its clocks to open the planner. Right-click the clocks for Settings and Quit, or use the gear button in the planner.

How do I add and organise locations?

Use Add a city or timezone at the bottom of the planner and search for a city or timezone. In Settings → Zones you can edit labels, menu-bar codes, groups and working hours. Drag a row by its handle, or use the move arrows, to reorder it. That order is used in both the planner and the menu bar.

How do I find a meeting time?

Choose a date and meeting duration, then drag a timeline or type into a clock. Every location moves to the same moment. Shared hours and suggested starts look for a window that fits the whole meeting inside every location’s working hours. These are the hours you configure, not availability read from calendars. Choose Now to return the planner to live time.

Why are there no suggested meeting times?

There may be no shared working window long enough for your meeting on the selected date. Try a shorter duration, another date or Next working day. Check each location’s working hours and the weekend rule in Settings → General. Changing the default working hours affects newly added locations; existing locations keep the hours set in Settings → Zones.

What do the timeline colours mean?

Solid teal marks working hours, hatching marks nearby hours, and blue marks the selected meeting’s start and end. Each row also shows a text status. You can change the colours in Settings → Colours.

How do I share a time or create an invitation?

Choose Copy meeting time to put a dated summary with the meeting duration and each location’s start and end times on your clipboard. Paste it into an email, message or calendar invitation. TimeZoneBar does not send invitations or add events to your calendar for you.

Can I change the menu-bar clocks and start the app at login?

Settings → Menu Bar lets you choose how many locations to show, display their codes, switch between 12-hour and 24-hour time, and adjust text size and colours. The clocks use the first locations in your list and continue to show live time while you plan. Enable Open at login in Settings → General; if macOS requests approval, allow TimeZoneBar in System Settings → General → Login Items.

Does it work offline, and does it adjust for daylight saving?

Yes. Clocks, city search and planning work locally without an internet connection or account. Times use macOS timezone rules for the date you select, including daylight-saving changes. Keep macOS up to date and check your Mac’s Date & Time settings if a clock looks wrong.

What should I include when asking for help?

Email [email protected] with your macOS version, the app version shown in Settings → General, and the steps that led to the problem. For a timezone issue, include the selected date, locations and expected time. Remove private names or meeting details from any screenshots before sending them.

Deleting your data

There is no TimeZoneBar account or server-side planning data to delete. Remove locations in Settings → Zones, or choose Restore Default Zones to replace your list and custom hours with the starter set. Use Settings → General → Reset All Settings to reset appearance and availability preferences; this leaves your zones unchanged. Turn off Open at login separately if enabled. Uninstalling a Mac app can leave preferences behind, and resetting the app does not remove copies in backups, clipboard history or messages you have sent.
