When can I download Pulsepane?

Pulsepane is coming soon to the Mac App Store. The product page will link to the listing when it is available.

How do I add widgets?

Open Pulsepane first. It runs in the menu bar, so you may not see an app window or a Dock icon. On your Mac desktop, Control-click and choose Edit Widgets, then find Pulsepane and add a widget. You can also add widgets to Notification Centre. Keep Pulsepane running so it can collect fresh measurements.

Why is a widget showing an older reading?

macOS controls when desktop and Notification Centre widgets refresh. Their readings are snapshots and may update less often than the app collects measurements. Check that Pulsepane is running in the menu bar. After sleep or reopening the app, allow time for a new reading and the next widget refresh.

How do I change a widget’s appearance?

Control-click a widget and choose Edit Widget to select its style and theme. Native, Vivid and Terminal themes are available. To change its size, use the sizes offered by macOS or remove it and add the size you want from the widget gallery.

Which widgets are free, and how do purchases work?

CPU and Memory widgets are free. Other widget categories can be unlocked individually or together in a one-time bundle purchase, with no subscription. The Mac App Store shows the price before you buy. Use Restore Purchases in Pulsepane’s settings with the Apple Account used for the original purchase.

Why does Pulsepane ask for location permission?

macOS requires Location Services permission to reveal your Wi-Fi network name. Pulsepane uses that permission for the name, not to track your geographical location. You can decline it and continue using the app; the network name may appear as unavailable.

Does Internet Health use my internet connection?

Yes. Automatic connectivity checks contact your router and external test hosts while the app runs, even without a paid Internet Health widget. You can change test hosts in Settings. Speed tests are separate: enable them in Settings and start one manually. Each test transfers approximately 35 MB to and from Cloudflare, so avoid running one on a metered connection if data usage is a concern. Quit Pulsepane to stop its automatic checks.

Why are some measurements unavailable?

Available readings depend on your Mac, its hardware and what macOS allows apps to read. Desktop Macs do not have an internal battery, and GPU or process details may be limited on some configurations. An unavailable reading does not necessarily mean there is a problem with your Mac.

What should I include in a support request?

Tell us your macOS version, Mac model, Pulsepane version, the widget and style affected, and what you expected to happen. A screenshot can help, but check it for private process names, network names or other personal information before sending it.

Deleting your data

There is no Pulsepane account to delete. Quit Pulsepane to stop monitoring, then remove its widgets and delete the app if you no longer want it. Deleting the app may leave local history and settings on your Mac; email support for help removing the remaining app data. We hold no copy of that history and cannot erase it remotely. Your backups and Apple’s purchase records are separate. If you have emailed us, you can also ask us to delete your support correspondence.
