Bookkeeping

Records reconciled monthly rather than reconstructed every January — so the figures you make decisions on are this month's, and the year end is a handover rather than an excavation.

What the work involves

  • 01

    Reconciliation, every month

Bank, card and cash matched to source documents monthly. Nothing is carried forward unexplained, and nothing waits until year end to be discovered.

  • 02

    Both ledgers, kept straight

Sales invoices raised or logged, supplier bills captured and scheduled, and a current view of who owes you what and what you owe out.

  • 03

    Figures you can act on

A short monthly summary: income, costs, margin, and what moved since last month. Written to be read by you, not by an accountant.

  • 04

    VAT, filed under MTD

VAT returns prepared and submitted under Making Tax Digital, priced as an add-on on your transaction volume rather than folded into the retainer.

What you are left with

  • Reconciled ledgers
  • Monthly summary
  • VAT returns (add-on)
  • Year-end pack

What we cover

  • Xero, QuickBooks and Sage
  • Client portal access
  • Year-end handover pack
  • Management accounts

  • Self-assessment returns
  • Xero training for in-house teams

How much of this a monthly fee covers depends on your volume, so we quote it after a conversation rather than before one.

Where a piece of this needs a qualified accountant — statutory accounts, corporation tax, a return that has grown complicated — it is delivered by our sister practice, Opus Accountancy Limited. One conversation either way.
